Mood Media customers describe years of phone tag, written cancellations that don't take, and bills that keep arriving. Entuned is original music we own outright — month-to-month, browser-based, free forever, no credit card.

What Mood gets right
Mood Media is the largest in-store audio provider in the world and has been doing this for decades. Three things they do well:
ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, GMR rolled into the subscription. A single-location operator can play licensed catalog without filing separately.
Spans most of what a mainstream retail buyer would expect to hear — for stores that want chart familiarity over identity.
Hardware, install crews, and rollout muscle that supports chains at a scale most competitors can't match.
Where Mood falls short
Five operator-level problems we hear from stores switching off Mood — sourced from Mood's own terms and BBB filings.
Per Mood's terms, subscriptions auto-renew, cancellation only takes effect end-of-period, and pre-paid services are non-refundable. Mood terms →
A store with two zones (front of house + patio, floor + fitting rooms) pays two subscriptions. No published volume discount inside a single store.
BBB profile lists a $1,261.57 erroneous bill in Nov 2022 after a Sept 2021 cancellation confirmation, plus a Feb 2024 charge after cancel. Pattern: cancel didn't stop billing. BBB →
Mood markets atmosphere benefits, but we couldn't find a published methodology for measuring basket-size or dwell-time lift their music produces in your store.
If your customer just heard "Brand X's playlist" at the mall before walking into your store, the audio is doing identity work for someone else.

Mood claims behavior. Ask them to measure it.
Mood's homepage promises to "shape perceptions, influence behaviors and prove business results." Their music page says the right sound can "inspire action" and "increase time spent in store." Those are behavioral claims — the same effects the retail research literature documents, and the same effects Entuned engineers for.
Look under the claims and the substantiation is shopper self-report surveys — what percentage of shoppers say music improves their mood — and case studies from other people's brands. Nothing Mood publishes describes measuring what the music did to basket, conversion, or dwell in a customer's stores. The claim is behavioral; the published evidence is a feelings survey.
One question separates the category: what did the music contribute in your stores last quarter? Entuned's answer is a free 12-week pilot across matched test and control stores, read in your own reporting. Ask Mood the same question before your contract renews.
