What Mood gets right

Mood Media is the largest in-store audio provider in the world and has been doing this for decades. Three things they do well:

PRO licensing bundled

ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, GMR rolled into the subscription. A single-location operator can play licensed catalog without filing separately.

Catalog breadth

Spans most of what a mainstream retail buyer would expect to hear — for stores that want chart familiarity over identity.

Enterprise field service

Hardware, install crews, and rollout muscle that supports chains at a scale most competitors can't match.

For owner-operators

Where Mood falls short

Five operator-level problems we hear from stores switching off Mood — sourced from Mood's own terms and BBB filings.

Auto-renewing contracts

Per Mood's terms, subscriptions auto-renew, cancellation only takes effect end-of-period, and pre-paid services are non-refundable. Mood terms →

Per-location AND per-zone billing

A store with two zones (front of house + patio, floor + fitting rooms) pays two subscriptions. No published volume discount inside a single store.

Documented billing failures

BBB profile lists a $1,261.57 erroneous bill in Nov 2022 after a Sept 2021 cancellation confirmation, plus a Feb 2024 charge after cancel. Pattern: cancel didn't stop billing. BBB →

No published lift methodology

Mood markets atmosphere benefits, but we couldn't find a published methodology for measuring basket-size or dwell-time lift their music produces in your store.

Catalog music other brands play

If your customer just heard "Brand X's playlist" at the mall before walking into your store, the audio is doing identity work for someone else.

What Entuned does instead

Free forever. Per-location, not per-zone. No hardware. Original music we own outright. PRO-indemnified the moment it plays.

$1,261.57

Common questions

Switching from Mood Media

Can I keep my Mood Media account while testing Entuned?
Yes. Entuned Free is $0 with no credit card, so you can run it in one zone or one store as a parallel test while your Mood subscription is still active. We recommend doing exactly that for a couple of weeks before you start the cancellation paperwork on Mood — it makes the comparison concrete and gives you something to point at internally.
Will I owe ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, or GMR if I switch to Entuned?
No, not for music played through Entuned. We compose and own every track in our catalog outright, so there is no PRO obligation passed to the operator for the audio Entuned delivers. If you also play other music in the location (live performers, a personal Spotify account on a back office speaker, etc.), those sources keep their own licensing posture — Entuned only covers what plays through Entuned.
How fast can I roll Entuned out across all my locations?
Each location takes minutes. The player is a URL on a browser-capable device at music.entuned.co. There is no hardware to ship, no install appointment, no field tech. Multi-location operators typically self-serve through app.entuned.co/start and use the customer dashboard to manage all sites from one login.
How do I actually cancel Mood Media without getting billed for an extra period?
Per Mood's terms, cancellation only takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and pre-paid services are non-refundable. Send the cancellation in writing, save the confirmation, watch your card statement for the next two cycles. We've written a more detailed playbook here: Getting out of a Mood Media contract.
Is there a usage limit on Entuned Free?
Entuned Free is a real free tier — no credit card, no trial timer, intended for ongoing use by single-location operators who don't need the deeper customization or measurement of the paid tiers. The differences live in the pricing page; nothing on the free tier expires.
What if my customers expect the songs they hear in mall stores?
That's the right question to interrogate. The honest answer is most of those customers don't consciously notice what's playing — they notice whether it fits the store. Entuned tunes to your customer's psychology rather than chart familiarity, and operators who switch usually report customers describing the store as "feeling more put together," not "missing the songs from the mall."
